Cefa Laurel Copete OA (born 1980) is an Alconbrian politician, who is the country's second Secretary of State. She was one of the original members of the first parliament of the country, and assumed the office of Secretary of the State in 2010, being a member of the ruling party, the Alconbria People's Party.
Laurel was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1980 to an Alconbrian father and a Canadian mother. Her family moved to Gvonn, Territory of Alconbria in 2002, and she moved in 2007, a year before Alconbria's sovereignty was recognized. She joined the same party as her parents, and in 2008 won the parliamentary elections and became one of the first female members of Alconbria's parliament in 2008, and one of the youngest, at the age of 28. She found the Worldwide Alconbrians Society as a replacement to the International Alconbrians Fund, and in 2009, drafted a proposal for the Alconbrian Crisis, which was put into action and in 2010, thanks to her management solutions, was nominated for the vacant position of Secretary of State by Paul del Santé.
In 2011, along with Ministry of Economy, drafted several reforms; which made Alconbria top the ease of doing business in South & Central America, and widely contributed to the strengthening of Alconbria's economy. She, along with Carlito Marcano contributed to the rise of the film and entertainment industry in Alconbria. She attended the execution of Victor Staurakios and Adolfo Machiavelli, being the only female politician to do so.
She has been widely criticized internationally for her SACK Plan, which was deemed 'discriminatory, and racist' by many. After Alconbria closed down all borders with Altivebrio to Altivebrians in Alconbria, she was issued death threats. She survived an assassination attempt by the Mayan Liberation Front in 2012. In 2013, she was denied entry visa into the United States due to her racist policies, and in that year, Alconbria boycotted many global summits held in the area, and broke off negotiations with USA. Because of Alconbria's increasining militarization, USA restored diplomatic relations with the country and allowed Laurel in. After the War in Central America, she was stripped of her Canadian citizenship.
She is one of the 12 female members of the Cabinet of Alconbria, and one of the most wealthiest female politicians in the country. She came first in the list of 'Greatest Female Alconbrians', a list by the Government of Alconbria. She married James Copete, the CEO of Prezzon Inc. in a private wedding ceremony in 2009, and they both have two children.
The Alconbria Navy class of nuclear-powered attack submarines is named after her, along with the class' lead ship. She did all the honours during the commissioning ceremony.
