Ernesto Titeriez OAD (born 1965) is an Alconbrian politician and the Leader of the Alconbria People's Party since 2001, and the party's chairman since 2016. He previously served as the President of Alconbria from 2001 till his attempted assassination attempt during the 2007 Alconbrian coup d'état attempt.
Titeriez was born in 1965 in Los Guez, Altivebrio (now located in Alconbria), and served as a captain of the Military of Alconbria in the later stages of the Alconbrian War of Independence. After independence, he and Augustin Voimer served as military advisors to President Paul del Santé.
After the Herwyuz incident, Titeriez resigned as a military advisor, and joined the Alconbria People's Party and quickly became one of Serjo Gapas' closest aides, becoming a part of the Team of Ten. After the loss of Milven peninsula to the Altivebrians in 1995, he spearheaded the Nacioist political campaign against del Santé in the 1996 elections; however the APP failed to secure a majority. He was then appointed as the Administrator of the ACEA, a post which he held till 2011. He succeeded Gapas as the APP's leader in 2001 in a controversial manner, and organized spot elections after del Santé's death in 2001, which he ultimately won, and became the second President of Alconbria on 11 March 2011.
As President, Titeriez unleashed controversial constitutional reforms which sought to make Alconbria more authoritarian. With support from the CDS Carlos Lluch and Dirit Franz, Titeriez used the army and several paramilitary groups to crush opposition to his reforms, and ensured that APP remained in power during the Alconbrian Crisis. After a staggering defeat in the 2005 elections, Titeriez enacted martial law with the help of the military and the Supreme Court of Alconbria, and continued to stay in power during the constitutional crisis. After protests were brutally squashed, Titeriez was heavily injured during a coup attempt by a faction of the army in 2007, and was succeeded as President by Augustin Voimer. After recovering, Titeriez served as an Éminence grise to Voimer. In 2016, he succeeded Claudia Delao as the Chairperson of the APP. As party Chairman, he served as the de facto Prime Minister from 2016 till 2019.
Titeriez is lauded by Nacioists and pro-APP Alconbrians as a revolutionary for his actions during the Alconbrian Crisis, and is regarded as the primary cause for the Nacioist rise to power. His enemies consider him to be a despotic tyrant. He is the only Alconbrian President to have been elected in a fair democratic election.
